Eating Disorders and Suicide Risk, 2006, by director, Ph.d. Lilian Zoellner and statistician Erik Christiansen.

From the preface

Vulnerability and poor personal welfare can manifest itself as self-injurious actions, eating disorders, suicide attempts an as suicides. Or as a combination of eating disorder and suicidal behavior.

Unfortunately, the suicide attempt rate has been increasing through the last ten years among young girls, and the number of patients admitted to hospitals suffering from eating disorders likewise.

Eating disorders as well as self-injurious actions and suicidal behavior are due to a wide range of different circumstances which separately cannot explain the increase but which are mutually interacting and dependent.

The Ministry of Social Affairs in Denmark has requested that the problem was brought into focus. This report tries to uncover the different circumstances leading up to the day an eating disorder is diagnosed.
